Recognition for Michellene Davis

Last week, Michellene Davis received the Thurgood Marshall Award of Excellence for New Jersey from the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, set up in 1987.  This fund was set up in part to raise money for students at predominantly black institutions and increase awareness of its mission.

As the first ever African American to be an Acting State Treasurer for New Jersey (and one of the only women to ever hold the position) and the first ever African American to be Chief Policy Counsel to Jon Corzine, former New Jersey Governor, Davis certainly deserves the honor.

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund is America’s most expansive institution serving the Black College Community via its research work, scholarships, partnerships and more.  Michellene Davis was certainly part of an esteemed line up for the 19th year of this award.
